My Survivor Story

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, I had no idea where to begin to find some resources or some mentors who could help me along the way. Even though I knew breast cancer was a significant threat to the health of women, it wasn’t until I myself faced the diagnosis that I began to discourage a rich wealth of women, organizations and resources who would become my lifelines.

Over the years I’ve developed a few key relationships, fallen in love with some elegantly simple resources and eventually, begun to speak out about my own experiences. In my dream world, every woman and her family who find themselves in my shoes would also find the hope that is in Jesus Christ alone.

Please enjoy some of my favorite resources, people and organizations related to healing that will bless anyone who is facing a life-threatening or chronic health issue.

Did you know?

  • Breast cancer will affect an average of 1 in 8 women.

  • Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the world.

  • Studies show that when detected early, the chance for survival of breast cancer is nearly 100%.

My Resources:

  • Healed of Cancer

This little book by Dodie Osteen totally rocked my world during my first round of cancer. It is proof the Word of God is powerful and can save your life. Her simple testimony of complete healing and her clear "how-to" use the Scripture to overcome helped save my life.

If you are in a cancer battle, carry this book with you everywhere. I pulled it out countless times while sitting in waiting rooms or finding myself in moments of insecurity. I also printed out all of her scriptures with their declarations and posted them all over my home. This is also a great gift for someone struggling with cancer.

  • Living Right-side Up—Flipping the Script of Your Story

In this collaborative book by Pastor Debbie Morris and the Gateway Women's Leadership team, I share specifically in about the strategy God gave me for overcoming adversity. Drawing upon my battle with breast cancer, I reveal keys to help navigate in the midst of your own challenging seasons.

  • National Breast Cancer Foundation

If you’ve landed on this page because of your own diagnoses or because of the fight of a friend or family member, you will find many great resources and lots of hope through the work of National Breast Cancer Foundation.
